1000 Agents For Each Employee

The era when humans program is nearing its end within our group, says Softbank founder Masayoshi Son. Our aim is to have AI agents completely take over coding and programming. (...) we are currently initiating the process for that.
Son made this statement on Wednesday at an event for customers organized by the Japanese corporation. According to the report, the Softbank CEO estimates that approximately 1,000 AI agents would be needed to replace each employee because employees have complex thought processes.

AI agents are software programs that use algorithms to respond automatically to external signals. They then carry out tasks as necessary and can also make decisions without human intervention. The spectrum ranges from simple bots to self-driving cars.

Transforming R&D With Agentic AI

Microsoft is announcing a new enterprise agentic platform called Microsoft Discovery to accelerate research and development (R&D) at Microsoft Build 2025.
Our goal is to bring the power of AI to scientists and engineers to transform the entire discovery process—from advanced knowledge reasoning and hypothesis formulation to experimental simulation and iterative learning. Microsoft Discovery enables researchers to collaborate with a team of specialized AI agents combined with a graph-based knowledge engine, to drive scientific outcomes with speed, scale, and accuracy.
At Microsoft, our researchers have leveraged the advanced AI models and high-performance computing (HPC) simulation tools in Microsoft Discovery to discover a novel coolant prototype with promising properties for immersion cooling in datacenters in about 200 hours—a process that otherwise would have taken months, if not years. This rapid discovery lays the groundwork for future developments in safer and sustainable solutions across multiple industries and is a demonstration of how Microsoft Discovery can potentially transform R&D in any company.
Introducing ChatGPT Agent

ChatGPT can now do work for you using its own computer, handling complex tasks from start to finish.
You can now ask ChatGPT to handle requests like look at my calendar and brief me on upcoming client meetings based on recent news, plan and buy ingredients to make Japanese breakfast for four, and analyze three competitors and create a slide deck. ChatGPT will intelligently navigate websites, filter results, prompt you to log in securely when needed, run code, conduct analysis, and even deliver editable slideshows and spreadsheets that summarize its findings.
At the core of this new capability is a unified agentic system. It brings together three strengths of earlier breakthroughs: Operator’s ability to interact with websites, deep research’s skill in synthesizing information, and ChatGPT’s intelligence and conversational fluency.
ChatGPT carries out these tasks using its own virtual computer, fluidly shifting between reasoning and action to handle complex workflows from start to finish, all based on your instructions.
AWS CEO Matt Garman Bets Big on AI Agent

From a glass-lined conference room high above Amazon’s campus, Matt Garman firmly emphasizes one word: “speed.”
With a full year under his belt, the new chief executive of Amazon Web Services Inc. has just finished what we called a halftime huddle — two days of video exclusive meetings and interviews with top AWS lieutenants racing to keep the world’s largest cloud provider ahead of an artificial-intelligence boom that is redrawing the technology industry’s boundaries.
At the midpoint of 2025, AWS finds itself in a rare position: still growing double-digit percentages on a base of more than $100 billion in annual revenue, yet facing the steepest technology transition since it commercialized cloud computing in 2006.
The catalyst is agentic computing, a term for software agents that can reason over huge data sets, take actions on behalf of users and — crucially — consume vast amounts of the digital tokens that power large-language models. Agents, Garman argues, will dwarf the impact of the software-as-a-service wave that made Salesforce Inc. and Workday Inc. household names.
